Jeantet becomes a partner of the Queen Mary University of London Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) / the Sorbonne law school double LLM

Paris, January 28, 2022 – Jeantet has signed a three year partnership with Queen Mary University of London’s Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) and the Sorbonne Law School, in support of their Double LLM programme.

This partnership is part of Jeantet’s sustained commitment to supporting the education and development of future legal talent. By collaborating with these first class universities in support of their Double LLM, Jeantet is also confirming its commitment to the international study of law, reflecting the Firm’s extensive international legal practice. The partnership aims to help encourage,  mentor and contribute to the practical legal education of future generations of business lawyers, in France and internationally.

To mark the launch of the  partnership and to welcome the new class of the Double LLM from the Queen Mary University of London’s Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) and the Sorbonne Law School, a virtual conference was hosted by Jeantet on January 18 on the topic “M&A and the Regulation of Foreign Direct Investment in 2022”. Professors, lawyers and experts in the field attended the roundtable. The participants were Professor Farhad Ameli (Vice Dean of La Sorbonne Law School), Mrs. Jennifer El-Baz (Deputy to the Head of Office for Foreign Direct Investments in France, Direction Générale du Trésor), Professor Ioannis Kokkoris (Chair in Competition Law and Economics at the CCLS) and Mrs. Ingrid Rogers (solicitor, member of the Competition Department of leading UK law firm Travers Smith). The discussion was moderated by Jeantet corporate partner Stephen Walters.

This collaboration includes:

  • The creation of the “Jeantet student achievement prize”, which will reward two students with an exemplary academic record; it will be awarded on Thursday, March 31, at an event at the Jeantet offices.
  • Educational support throughout the year, to provide students with tools to build their professional projects.

Stephen Walters, Corporate M&A partner at Jeantet said: “We are proud of this partnership, which is a great opportunity for our Firm to support graduate law students at the CCLS and the Sorbonne who are engaged in this excellent Double LLM programme, the only one of its kind offered today by two first ranking French and UK universities. Through our partnership we aim to contribute to the students’ learning and enjoyment of the programme and encourage them in their ambition of becoming the great business lawyers of the future”.
